OGR Torino

These railway repair shops, opened in 1895, were once the biggest industrial site in Turin.

OGR Torino, short for Officine Grandi Riparazioni, fills the old railway repair workshops between Porta Nuova and Porta Susa with exhibitions, concerts and start-ups. Until 29 November the exhibition is Mind Your Brain!, an interactive show about the brain for all ages, and the courtyard has a free video installation. The Torino+Piemonte Card gets you the reduced exhibition ticket.

OGR Torino tickets: you pay for the exhibition, not the courtyard

At OGR you buy a ticket for an exhibition or a concert, not for the place, because there’s no permanent collection. The Corte Est, the courtyard with its open-air art, is free for everyone, and so is the video installation showing there this winter.

The exhibition on until 29 November is Mind Your Brain!, at €8. Students up to 25, over-65s, members of the Italian associations ARCI, FAI and TCI, and Torino+Piemonte Card holders pay €5, and under-6s go in free. You can buy tickets at the OGR ticket office or online on Boxol, and guided visits, in Italian, need booking.

Concerts and events are ticketed separately, on Boxol, Dice and other sites, and the OGR shop sells concert tickets without a presale fee. Between 4 and 22 November the programme includes OGR Talks and the Paranoia Festival. If you use a wheelchair, write to OGR three working days before a concert.

OGR on the Torino+Piemonte Card: the reduced exhibition ticket

At OGR the Torino+Piemonte Card gets you the reduced exhibition ticket, €5 for Mind Your Brain!, and the courtyard costs nothing anyway. Each exhibition sets its own rules, so the next one may treat the card differently.

Mind Your Brain! at OGR Torino, until 29 November

Mind Your Brain! comes from Heureka, in Finland, and fills Binario 2, one of OGR’s exhibition halls. It’s interactive and made for all ages: each group gets a “portable brain”, a key that switches on the installations as you go.

The installations deal with emotions, the senses and sleep, how the brain is built and how it changes through a lifetime. Along the way are poems by the Finnish writer Laura Ruohonen, translated by Irene Sorrentino.

Inversions in the Corte Est, free until 10 January

Out in the Corte Est, Samson Young’s video Inversions plays until 10 January 2027, as part of the 29th edition of Luci d’Artista, whose theme this year is Memories and Future Dreams. It runs for six and a half minutes and sets the Kam Tin Tree House, in Hong Kong, against scenes from the 1978 film Drunken Master, with percussion by David Cossin.

The courtyard keeps longer hours than the exhibitions: from 8:00 on weekdays and 9:00 at weekends, until midnight, or later on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Snodo, the restaurant side of OGR, is open late too.
