Naples airport, Capodichino (NAP), is about 15 minutes from the central station on the Alibus, the airport bus that carries on into the port for the ferries and hydrofoils, for €5 a ride (October 2026). A taxi charges a fixed fare per car, from €21 to the station and the old town, and a shared taxi costs €6 a person. For Pompeii and Sorrento, the Alibus connects with the Circumvesuviana trains at the central station.

Naples airport is closed from 1 to 30 November 2026
According to the local press, runway works close Capodichino for the whole of November 2026. About a third of its flights move to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi airport (QSR), with airlines such as easyJet, ITA, Vueling and Transavia, and the rest go to Rome. The works are planned for 24 days plus 6 held in reserve for rain, so the airport may reopen before the 30th. From Salerno airport, the Salerno Airlink bus reaches Salerno station in about 40 minutes for €5, and regional trains from there reach Napoli Centrale in 36 to 50 minutes, from €5.80. The rest of this page is for the airport when it’s open.

Alibus: the airport bus to Piazza Garibaldi and the port

The Alibus is the airport bus of ANM, the city’s transport company. Its first stop is Piazza Garibaldi, in front of the central station, about 15 minutes from the airport. Change there for the Circumvesuviana to Pompeii and Sorrento, and for metro line 1, which won’t reach the airport itself before the first half of 2027.

The bus then goes into the port: to Immacolatella and Porta di Massa, for Caremar’s ferries to the islands, and to Molo Angioino and Beverello, for the hydrofoils and the cruise terminal, about 35 minutes from the airport. Heading back to the airport it picks up at Beverello, Porta di Massa, Varco Pisacane (opposite the Port Authority, level with Via Duomo) and Piazza Garibaldi.

A ride costs €5 wherever you get off (October 2026). Buy the ticket from the machines on the ground floor of the arrivals area or on the airport’s online shop, or tap a contactless card as you board. The timetable changes between summer and winter; count on a bus every 15 to 30 minutes by day, from early morning until around midnight.

If you’d like the ride sorted before you fly, we sell a bus ticket between the airport and the Maritime Station, the cruise terminal at Molo Beverello, €5 each way: 35 minutes, air-conditioned, with Wi-Fi and wheelchair access. It can’t be cancelled, and the listing names only those two ends of the route, not the company or the stops in between.

Naples airport taxis: fixed fares to the centre, the port and beyond

Taxis wait at the rank in front of arrivals, and the city sets fixed fares from the airport to the centre, the port and towns as far as Ravello. You ask for the fixed fare when you get in. It’s per car, not per person, and it includes luggage, the night and holiday supplements, the airport supplement and pets; only motorway tolls, and €5 extra for more than four passengers or a 7- to 9-seat car, come on top.

Fixed taxi fares from Naples airport (city tariff of 2024)

Central station, the old town and Capodimonte
€21
The port and Molo Beverello, Piazza Municipio, Teatro San Carlo, the Archaeological Museum
€24
Via Partenope, Mergellina and San Martino
€28.50
Vesuvius, Pompeii, the Royal Palace of Caserta
€65, €70 and €85
Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello
€125, €145, €155 and €160

These are the city’s 2024 fares, still the ones the airport links to, so ignore the €16 or €18 that older guides quote. Where there’s no fixed fare, the meter runs: €4 to start on weekdays from 6:00 to 22:00, €7.50 at night and on Sundays and holidays, plus the €5 airport supplement and €0.50 for each bag bigger than 40 × 30 × 20 cm.

Licensed taxis wait at the rank, so don’t go with anyone who approaches you inside the terminal. Ask for a receipt at the end, and if something goes wrong, note the car’s CP number, painted on its doors, for a complaint to the city.

The €6 shared taxi from Naples airport

The taxi collettivo is a shared taxi at €6 a person, luggage included, with no meter and a receipt. It runs from the airport to the central station and to the Maritime Station at Molo Beverello, from the pick-up area about 100 metres from arrivals, and it sets off 15 minutes after the first three passengers get in. You’ll know it by the tariff card on the windscreen, with the city’s logo.

Private transfer from Capodichino to the city centre

A private transfer from the airport into the city centre costs from €70 for a car between 7:00 and 19:00, and more at night or in a minivan. It’s one way, between the airport and the centre, takes about 30 minutes and is wheelchair accessible.

Naples airport to Pompeii, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast

The coaches to Sorrento don’t leave from the Alibus stop. Curreri’s go from the P Bus coach park, next to car park P1, and wait there 10 minutes before departure; they call at Pompei, Castellammare di Stabia, Vico Equense, Meta, Piano di Sorrento and Sant’Agnello on the way to Piazza Tasso in Sorrento, for €13, and the company also runs to Positano, for €20. You book them online, and for the trip back the airport advises leaving the Sorrento coast at least five hours before your flight.

From the airport to Pompeii by bus and train

  1. 1Take the Alibus to Piazza Garibaldi, about 15 minutes, €5.
  2. 2Go down to the Circumvesuviana on the lower level of the central station, at Napoli Garibaldi.
  3. 3Board a Sorrento train: Pompei Scavi-Villa dei Misteri is 36 minutes away, for €3.30, and Sorrento 1 h 12.
  4. 4Walk about 50 metres from Pompei Scavi to the Porta Marina entrance of the ruins.

No bus goes from the airport to Amalfi or Ravello. The fixed taxi fares above cover both; otherwise head for Sorrento and take the SITA bus along the coast, as our page on the Amalfi Coast from Naples explains.

Arriving at Naples airport after the last bus

The airport closes from 22:30 to 3:30 under the rules of ENAC, Italy’s civil aviation authority, so only a delayed flight lands in those hours. The last Alibus leaves somewhere between 23:30 and just after midnight, and after that it’s a taxi, whose fixed fare already includes the night supplement.

Naples city cards and the ride from the airport

None of the cards we sell includes the Alibus or a transfer: the Campania Artecard and the Naples Museum Card pay for the sights, so the ride from the airport is a separate cost. The metro and buses in town are on our page about Naples public transport.
