Fondazione Merz
Marisa Merz's exhibition this winter is told in three acts, and the foundation named after Mario Merz is one of its three venues.
Named after Mario Merz, one of the Arte Povera artists, Turin's Fondazione Merz shows his work and that of his wife, the artist Marisa Merz, alongside projects by Italian and international artists, in the 1930s power station of the Lancia works in Borgo San Paolo. The Torino+Piemonte Card includes the entry, and until 4 April 2027 the foundation is one of the three venues of the exhibition Marisa Merz: The Dance of the Hours.
Fondazione Merz entry included in the Torino+Piemonte Card
The Torino+Piemonte Card includes the entry. The same card includes the other two venues of this winter’s Marisa Merz exhibition, the Castello di Rivoli and the GAM, Turin’s modern art gallery.

Marisa Merz at the Fondazione Merz, in three acts
The foundation alternates works by Mario and Marisa Merz with projects by other Italian and international artists. It also puts on contemporary music and the Mario Merz Prize, a biennial award for art and for musical composition.
It’s also one of the three venues of Marisa Merz: The Dance of the Hours, an exhibition told in three acts with the Castello di Rivoli and the GAM, Turin’s modern art gallery, which runs from 29 October 2026 to 4 April 2027. The chapter here is about how she worked: her process, the materials she chose and the balances that let ordinary objects and materials do something you don’t expect.
The Lancia power station in Borgo San Paolo
The foundation was set up in 2005 as a centre for contemporary art with Mario Merz’s name. Its home is a rationalist building of the 1930s, the old power station of the Lancia car works.
The spaces are barrier-free: there’s a wheelchair at the desk, pushchairs are allowed unless work in progress rules them out, and there’s a baby-changing table.
