Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli opened Fondazione Prada in 2015 in a 1910s distillery in the south of Milan, rebuilt by Rem Koolhaas's office OMA. One of the old buildings is covered in 24-carat gold leaf, a white tower rises 60 metres beside it, and one ticket takes in every exhibition on the site.

Fondazione Prada tickets: one day, every exhibition

Fondazione Prada’s Haunted House is a four-storey building left from the old distillery, and inside, the American artist Robert Gober’s installation shares the rooms with works by Louise Bourgeois. A day here costs €19, from the Haunted House to the six gallery floors of the Torre, the white tower beside it, and under-18s go in free. Give yourself at least two hours.

The ticket is for one date, and it can’t be changed or refunded, so choose a day you’re sure of. Tuesday is out, since that’s when the galleries close.

None of Milan’s city passes includes the Fondazione Prada.

What to see at Fondazione Prada: the Haunted House, the Podium and the Torre

The site covers 19,000 square metres. OMA kept seven of the distillery’s buildings and added three new ones, the Podium, the Cinema and the Torre. Koolhaas has said the project is neither preservation nor new architecture, and that the two confront each other here; walking between the old distillery buildings and the glass and metal Podium, you see what he meant.

Gober’s installation in the Haunted House is permanent. Space inside is limited, so entry isn’t guaranteed when it’s busy, and the same goes for Le Studio d’Orphée, the room the film director Jean-Luc Godard made for the Cinema.

The Torre, the last piece, opened in 2018. It has nine floors, each with its own plan and height, from 2.7 metres on the first to 8 metres on the top. Six of them hold Atlas, works from the Prada collection, Jeff Koons and Damien Hirst among them, chosen by Miuccia Prada and the curator Germano Celant.

Until 9 November 2026 the temporary show is Over, Under and in Between, by Mona Hatoum.

Bar Luce, Wes Anderson’s café, and the Torre restaurant

The Bar Luce is Wes Anderson’s take on the old Milanese cafés of the 1950s and 60s, with a vaulted ceiling that echoes the glass roof of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and pinball machines inside. It keeps its own hours, from 8:30 on weekdays, and opens on Tuesdays too.

The bar’s hours change for events. The Fondazione’s site doesn’t say whether you need an exhibition ticket just for a coffee, so if that’s all you’re after, ask at the entrance. The outdoor spaces, the bookshop and the study room need no ticket at all.

Up the Torre, the sixth-floor restaurant has the original furniture from the Four Seasons in New York, designed by Philip Johnson in 1958, and three sculptures by Lucio Fontana. The rooftop bar above it looks out over the whole city. Neither is part of the exhibition ticket. Both are shut on Mondays and Tuesdays. From Wednesday to Friday the bar opens at 18:00 and the restaurant at 19:30, both until midnight; at weekends the bar runs from noon and the restaurant serves lunch from 12:00 to 15:00 and dinner from 19:30.
